Um, yeah, what SFist Said...
With regards to the SF Board of Supes meaningless resolution calling for the impeachment, I defer to the unqualified brilliance of SFist.
The measure brought out the snark from Gavin, of all people, who said in response: "I imagine, immediately, Congress will probably convene into session and begin impeachment proceedings." Hey, that's our line. He also said he's not sure if he'll sign the measure as he's got about 3,000 other things to worry about first. Look for him to not sign the measure, followed by fist-shaking editorials in the Bay Guardian and Beyond Chron outing Gavin as a secret Bush lover for not supporting the measure...
Also in response was Congressperson Nancy Pelosi, who said: "Win the election. Then you can change the policy of our country." Which kind of makes our point in a way. Look, we've snarked about this. We've said the chances of this changing anything are the same as us having a threesome with Maureen Dowd and Sasha Cohen. It's not that we don't wish evil things to befall the President and V.P. in a political sense, we just think that, well, considering the Democrats and the Left have yet to counter pretty much anything the President and Republicans have done (we think the correct term for what's happened over the past six years would be "ass kicked"), isn't calling for impeachment a little out of reach? Considering the political tide may be oh-so-slightly turning, shouldn't they start working on things a little bit more realistic? Like serious political reform? Or actually having hearings on the NSA stuff? Think of it as political training wheels until they learn how to actually do something. Pick your metaphor about what calling for impeachment is like: a guitarist who can't even hack their way through "Smoke on the Water" trying to learn Van Halen's "Eruption" or Daniel-San taking on the Kobra Kai without learning how to wax on and wax off first.
Agreed.
